Alright, I'm back. I'd love to write every day, but I want it to be interesting! For some reason, some days don't contain anything interesting to write about!
Hope you guys enjoyed Memorial Day and took the time to remember some of the wonderful men and women we have lost fighting for our country. But then, you shouldn't just be thinking about them on Memorial Day! They do so, so, so, so, much to keep our country safe, a thing for which I am grateful!
One of my upcoming projects is to make hats for veterans. I wanted to do something to help, my Cousin Joe said this would be a good place to start. I am waiting for my pattern to come in a book at the library. It is the only knitted hat pattern I can pull off, I have not graduated from straight needles yet!
As of right now, I am at my desk, I have a pair of circular needles in front of me (in the caddy between masking tape and Project Linus labels) and thinking: "To circular or not to circular? That is the question!" I guess I am nervous about joining and the whole twisted stitches thing. But, one of these days!
I am still working away at another blanket for Project Linus. I sent Wyatt his blanket, he loves it a lot! So happy to be able to help out and make him smile, and he has such a cutie pie smile too. He's in his second round of chemotherapy since Friday. Our family had a lot of fun going out and picking out fun things for his care package! My Mom has great ideas.
We are going to see him in July. Can't wait! Looks like I should start marking the calender soon.
What kind of projects are on your hooks or needles or anything else? Let me know, comment below!
What you said about using circular needles is exactly what I say about knitting socks: "One of these days!" I've tried three times now, without completing anything or even getting very far. But I have learned, through trial and error, what would work better for me; e.g., larger needle sizes (like US 5-8) instead of small (like 0-3). The same might happen for you. For instance, you might find knitting with metal circulars easier than knitting with wood or plastic, or vice versa. I suggest using a stitch marker to keep track of rounds, at least in the beginning. Later on, if you like, you can simply follow the yarn tail.
ReplyDeleteAs far as twisting stitches go, I personally don't find it difficult to avoid, even on DPNs. Just check your work every now and then and make sure all the stitches are facing the same (correct) direction.
But no rush! You'll get there when you're ready (which is what I tell myself).
I'm almost done with my stockinette stitch leaf. I'll post a photo of it next week. I've also started another (improved) soda can cozy.
I can't to see the things you are cooking up! Have never worked with tiny needles before, but one day! The socks sound a little daunting, when you are done with one, you need to do the other, and it has to be close to perfect!
DeleteI only own one pair of circs and one pair of straights, most of my arsenal is crochet! Thanks for the advice! ;)
